BOOK SWAP at PS 217 – November 30th 5-7PM

Books Drop Offs: 11/20 – 11/27

If you are tired of piling up books that your child has already read and will never read again, or if you perhaps are looking for an affordable way to refresh your home library with new titles and new genres, we have the right solution for you: Book Swap! Here’s how it works:

  1. Donate books. From Monday, November 20 to Monday, November 27 you and your child can donate books:
  • Pre-k, Kindergarten and 1st Grade parents can bring on behalf of their children gently used books to Room 109 every day between 8:15 – 9:00 AM and 1:00 – 2:00 PM.
  • Students in Grades 2 – 5, can bring the books straight to their classroom teacher.
  1. Maximum 7 books for swap. For each book donated, your child will receive a ticket that can be exchanged for one “new” book on Thursday, November 30, between 5 – 7 PM in the PS 217 Cafeteria. While we highly appreciate donations of more than 7 books, the maximum number of exchange tickets per student is 7. A child will only be able to take home a maximum of 7 “new” books regardless of how many books they donated. You must have an exchange ticket in order to get a new a “book”. No exchange ticket, no book!

When selecting the books to donate, please keep in mind that we are looking to exchange age appropriate CHILDREN books in ANY language. Chapter books or picture books in English or other language, prose or poetry, fiction or non-fiction, feel free to bring them in!

We are looking for volunteers that can help us collect, sort and organize the donated books or be available to help out on the day of the swap. If you are interested to give us a hand or for any other questions you might have, please contact Parent Coordinator Mara Dubovici (Room 109 / 718.434.6960×1 / LDubovici@schools.nyc.gov)
