Brooklyn PTA 5K Fun Run for the Schools

Join P.S. 217’s team at the PTA 5-kilometer run/walk/stroll/toddle in Prospect Park on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10 AM.

Last year, hundreds of parents, teachers and students from many Brooklyn public schools participated at this very successful event that supports Brooklyn PTAs/PAs. Over $13,000 were raised for Brooklyn public schools. Yet this event goes beyond being just a fundraiser. It is a great community builder that brings together not just a school, a zone or a district, but a whole borough. PS 217 participated last year with a team of about 30 parents and children, raising $500 for PS217, and having an amazing time together in the park.

The P.S. 217 team will meet this year at Bartel Pritchard Square Entrance (15th Street corner) at 9 AM.

In order to qualify PS217 as a team for this race and to benefit from the proceeds we need at least 20 registered participants. Participants pay a registration fee ($20/individual, $5 for each additional family member up to 5) and may raise additional money through sponsorship. 50% of total profits from the event will be divided evenly among each participating schools, 25% will be divided in proportion to the number of students in each school and the remaining 25% will be divided among top 1/3 Title 1 schools. The more PS 217 participants we have, the more money we can raise.

To register as an individual or a family, please go to https://nycruns.com/races/?race=brooklyn-pta-5k and fill out the online registration form. Make sure you select PS217 as your school!
