IS 240: In an effort to draw attention to traffic safety and reduce crashes, ‪#‎NYC initiated the ‪#‎VisionZeroNYC program as a commitment to improve street safety in every neighborhood and in every borough. The Board of Directors and staff of the Flatbush Junction BID congratulates the students of I.S.240 Hudde J.H.S. in Midwood for assisting NYC DOT in the design of the Vision Zero / Flatbush Junction BID banners. An appreciation ceremony was held at JHS 240K’s auditorium to thank the students for their contribution. The NYC DOT Safety Education & Outreach educator and a teaching artist went over the steps the students took to complete this project: from neighborhood observations, to discussions of safety issue, to learning about design, to coming up with the final banner artwork and slogan. Six students shared how their design impacted the final design approved for the banners. Look for these banners, so to be found hanging from poles along the busiest streets of the Flatbush corridor!
