From the PS 217 Garden

The PS 217 garden will be open every Friday after school (weather permitting) for gardening workshops and good quality time together. It is a wonderful feature of our neighborhood and a world of possibility for our kids.

Some classes started growing seeds in their classrooms. The seedlings will later be transplanted into the garden. Once plants will find their home in the garden beds there is a need for maintenance and watering. If you would like to volunteers a little bit of your time to water the plants Monday through Wednesday during the school hours please contact heather Smith (Garden Coordinator) at hsmith293@yahoo.com . Summer watering opportunities will also be available.

Even though the scaffolding is slowly going up around the school, the garden will still be open for the families on Friday afternoons between 2:30 – 4:00 PM. Gardening workshops, direct sowing, weeding and maintaining of the garden will take place during this Open Family Garden Time.

Last but not least, if you are interested to become the Garden Coordinator next year, feel free to contact Heather Smith (hsmith293@yahoo.com). Heather will fill you in with all the details and the fun of the job.
