Join Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s I Have a Dream Celebration to honor the life and legacy of the iconic civil rights leader and celebrate themes of diversity, equality, freedom, and resistance. Among the activities offered:

  • Bags of Warmth for CAMBA Homeless Shelter with Repair the World, 11:00 -11:40 am, 1:00 -1:40 pm, 2:00 -2:40 pm – Join Brooklyn Children’s Museum and Repair the World for a community service project that allows families to pack bags of gloves, socks, and other warm clothing for CAMBA Homeless Shelter’s Respite Bed Program.
  • ColorLab: I Have a Dream Edition, 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Write or draw your dream for your community and add it to the community dream cloud. Create a poster to show your values and bring it to BCM Kid’s March at 4:15 p.m.
  • Holding History, 11:00 am-1:00 pm. Visit Collections Central and hold artifacts from BCM’s collection of cultural objects from the mid-1900s. Explore how objects and stories from Dr. King’s time can teach us about his life!
  • Brooklyn Kids March, 4:15 -5:00 p.m. Join a reading of Let the Children March by Monica Clark-Robinson and learn about how the Children’s March in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963 changed history. Create your own protest sign and chant and march through the Museum while promoting friendship and equality!
