The PA is still seeking parents to volunteer to run our School Store and to help with Publicity & Outreach.
The School Store committee chair oversees the ordering and selling of PS 217 school gear. This is a fun job for someone who enjoys clothing and shopping! It’s also an important job that helps build school spirit while outfitting our families in sporty hats, t shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants, all with the smart 217 logo!
The Publicity & Outreach committee chair helps out with photocopying important flyers going home in backpacks to our approximately 1,400 kids. From time to time, he or she also helps promote school events by posting banners and passing out flyers in the schoolyard.
An optional responsibility for an artistic candidate for this post: we have a beautiful school lobby board which is the first thing families see entering our building. It was decorated by a former parent and updated with current information, and a school calendar of events. The publicity chair has the opportunity to continue this tradition of decorating this board to reflect the changing seasons, and to show off our information to best advantage. We already have a box of decorations started for this!
Neither of these jobs represents a large time commitment and neither requires you to be at the school at set times. You can work either position around your own schedule, and as always, the rest of the PA is here to train and support you!
