Parent Coordinator Ute has added a new title: “Sustainability Coordinator.” As part of an NYC Schools initiative to reduce land-fill use, schools will soon be required to separate recyclables and compostable materials from “trash.” To meet the new mandates, Ute is training PS 217’s “GoGreen217,” a group of 217 kids dedicated to educating fellow students as to what stuff goes where in the cafeteria’s recycling/ refuse area and otherwise helping out with the transition.
