As you remember, December was filled with music at P.S. 217. Monday, December 21st was a big day for the P.S. 217 Chorus! The day began early at 8:15 AM in the school library where the chorus performed for important local dignitaries at the annual legislative breakfast. The group took pictures with the administration and politicians and sang several holiday songs that got the meeting off to an exciting start.

From there, the hard working chorus went down to the auditorium to perform two shows for their fellow students from Pre-K all the way up to 5th grade. The show ended with Santa walking down the aisle to greet students while the chorus sang “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”.

The final performance of the day was in the evening for parents, family and friends from the community. The chorus sang songs of Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and the winter season, from standards like “Rudolph the red nose reindeer” to some new additions to the chorus repertoire like “Sleigh Ride”. Mrs. Conti and Mrs. Van Auken got involved in the music playing percussion for a rousing rendition of “Feliz Navidad”.

The day was a great success for the students! They sang beautifully and showed all the hard work they put in at the rehearsals had paid off. It was a very special day for everyone involved.
