Urgently Needed: New PA Treasurer

After two years on the job, our current Treasurer wants to take some time off. The PA officially can’t function without a Treasurer, so we really need someone to volunteer. If you feel comfortable taking over the below responsibilities, please come be our new Treasurer!

Here’s a short job description: The PA Treasurer is responsible for keeping the financial records of the PA. The Treasurer reviews all reimbursement requests and PA expenditures, writes checks and pays bills, maintains financial records and balances the PA’s checkbook. The Treasurer is also responsible for counting and depositing all funds raised at the PA fundraisers held throughout the year. For this task, the Treasurer has the great fortune of having PS 217-parent Anna Pizzelli perform a great deal of the counting and depositing. Past Treasurers have used simple spreadsheet programs on either Macs or PCs to keep the records, though, if you are familiar with fancier accounting software, those programs work as well. The Treasurer does not need to be an accountant (the last several have not been!), he or she just needs to be organized and detail oriented. The Treasurer also completes one-page reports for submission to the school after each fundraising event, and twice a year financial reports for the principal. Finally, the Treasurer works with the PA Executive Board and the school administration in budgeting and planning PA events. The Treasurer position requires approximately 1 hour of time every week.
