Dear Families,
Welcome back to school! I hope you and your children enjoyed the summer—and that you read lots of great books over the break. Please send a list of the books your child read this summer to school. Children that bring a P.S. 217 Summer Reading Log, Brooklyn Public Library Reading Record, or a list of titles on paper will receive prizes in the library. Supplies are limited, so please send these lists in the next week or two.
This year, the Family Reading Program will meet on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30 pm. Parents and adult caregivers are invited to bring their children to the school library to borrow books, do homework, play games, and use the computers at this time. Note that an adult must accompany youngsters at all times, and adults must be prepared to show photo identification to enter the building.
Once again, stickers, bookmarks, and other incentives will be available to encourage children to read. Thank you for your cooperation. I am looking forward to seeing you all in the library.
