Registration Is Now Open for STEM Matters NYC Student Spring Break Camps!

Spring Break Space Camp
For Grade 5 – 8 Students
Space Campers will train as pilots using flight simulators in a NASA Aerospace Education Lab. Activities include building and programing Mars rovers with LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots; designing, constructing, and launching rockets; participating in activities that simulate astronaut training, and learning about the history of space exploration. These activities are all done in preparation for the campers’ ultimate mission: a simulated space adventure.

Environmental Study Center Spring Break Camps
Planet Keepers and Climate Change
For Grade 4 and 5 Students
Student scientists will learn the principles of environmental learning. What is a carbon footprint? What is built-in obsolescence? How can we conserve our resources? How do our purchases affect the environment?

Focus on Wildlife: Creating Public Service Announcements to Raise Awareness for Endangered Animals
For Middle School Students
Students will explore the complicated issues that surround endangered species and learn to create and produce a Public Service Announcement (PSA) to protect an endangered animal. The program includes a trip to the Prospect Park Zoo.

Documentary Filmmaking: Science Careers
For Middle School Students
Students will learn about science careers in Molecular Biology (conservation genetics, wildlife forensics), Botany (hydroponics, agriculture, farming), and Zoology (animal care). Students will then create a storyboard, develop a script and produce a documentary film related to a science career that interests them. The program includes a trip to the Prospect Park Zoo.
