Garden Concerts – Wednesdays 6 – 7PM

Don’t make plans for Wednesday evenings! Join us in the P.S. 217 garden for music and refreshments!

P.S. 217’s Annual Garden Concerts had their superb debut on May 11 with a special celebration and a spectacular outdoor interactive performance by Calpulli Danza Mexicana. Almost 200 adults and children filled our garden and while sampling delicious Mexican themed refreshments enjoyed Calpulli’s fresh repertoire honoring Mexico’s past and immigrant life in the United States.

Our next concert, on May 18 will feature Akbar Ghulam Ali and Imran Sagar. Maestro Akbar Ghulam Ali will be performing Ghazal and Geet utilizing Harmonium and vocals, and will be accompanied by Imran Sagar on Tabla. Come enjoy another lovely evening in the garden, celebrate with Hindi and Urdu music and satisfy your tasting buds with mouthwatering samosas (limited supply, so come early!).

For the third concert, scheduled on May 25, we will be treated to duets with Lucy Kalantari and Lloyd Miller. They will liven up the garden with folk, jazz and rock songs for the whole family. Lucy will be performing songs from her upcoming album, Big Things. Lloyd is the founder and front man of the Deedle Deedle Dees, a critically-acclaimed educational rock band based in New York City. The Deedle Deedle Dees are releasing a new album in the summer of 2016 featuring songs inspired by true stories from the history of science, discovery, and magic. We hope to see you and your little ones for this great concert too.

More concerts will take place in June, every Wednesday, until June 22, so please stay tuned for more details. All concerts are open to public, hence bring your family, friends and other members of the community to listen, play, socialize and enjoy our special school grounds and snacks.
