Are your children reading at home? We hope they are and we hope you encourage them to do so.
Come one, come all! Join us for the first annual PS 217 READ-A-THON!
Please support your child to find adult sponsors to pledge 1- 10 cents (or more) for each minute read and logged during the Read-a-thon time frame. Sponsor names and pledge amounts should be written on a Read-a-thon pledge form. Instruct your child to also log down all the minutes they spend reading outside the classroom on the Read-a-thon log. Minutes spent reading for homework count! Pre-K, K and 1st grade students can include minutes adults read to them.
Every student who participates will receive a certificate of accomplishment! Special prizes will be available for students who read 1,000 minutes or more but we’ll reward those who read less as well! The class that reads the most minutes per student for each grade will get a pizza party!
