Puppetry in Practice

Our partnership with the Puppetry in Practice organization continues into the New Year with a 10-week session, this time with our first graders!

The students will focus on social studies curriculum about “our community” and each classroom will work together on a different community place (hospital, firehouse, library, etc). The first graders will make engaging shadow box theaters out of cardboard with interchangeable scenes, moving parts and interactive components.

Our second graders recently completed their Puppetry in Practice engagement where each class worked with the organization to create a stop-motion animation video featuring everyone in the class. Each child had their picture taken and created a flat “puppet” with moveable arms and legs that was then photographed and included in the animation. Each class highlighted a different location in New York City to coincide with their lesson on New York.

Puppetry in Practice is another outstanding organization we are lucky to have as partners in our dedication to the arts.
