School Construction Authority Meeting at PS 217 – Wednesday, 10/18/17 at 5:30 PM

Did you know that 75% of our school playground, garden, and track will be closed and inaccessible to our children and the community beginning at the end of October for the next 2 years?

The School Construction Authority is set to begin work on a project at PS 217 to replace the windows and bricks on the building. The project is set to start in the coming weeks and will last two years, during which the majority of our outdoor space, including the playground, track and garden will be unusable to our students and community due to equipment and preparations.

While this critical repair work must be done, the Parents Association of PS217 is asking the School Construction Authority to consider alternative approaches so our children can still use this essential space – safely – during the extensive construction process. There is strong reason to believe that if enough parents and neighborhood families come together to brainstorm and speak out against the significantly reduced outdoor space, a solution can be reached that allows for both the necessary construction and the appropriate play space.

PLEASE JOIN the PA ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 18 AT 5:30 PM IN THE PS 217 AUDITORIUM FOR AN IMPORTANT MEETING TO DISCUSS SOLUTIONS!
