PS 217 Garden Events

Art in the Garden:

BAC Grant awarded to 217
Artist (and 217 parent) Carlos Pinto and Art Educator (and 217 parent) Lizzy LeBlanc have been making art in the garden with the first graders every Friday in May. The children have been drawing, collaging and painting using the garden as a classroom and an inspiration. In our final project, each first grader will glaze a tile that will be added to a new mosaic mural in the garden. We’ll have a garden party to celebrate the installation of the tiles near the end of the school year.
The project is funded by a grant from Brooklyn Arts Council, co-written by Lizzy and Judy Brandwein, Magnet Coordinator. Additional funding is generously provided by the Friends of 217.

Open Garden hours every Friday afternoon in May and June!
The garden is blooming, growing and buzzing with life. You should come in and enjoy it! Every Friday afternoon right after school until around 4:30 we’ll have the gates open for all 217 families to come in and relax, have a snack, play, chat, or pull a weed or two.
Please come and enjoy or roll up your sleeves and dig in!
